THE HOLDREN'S BAR

 

Imagine a bar full of lunch patrons enjoying a shot of rye whiskey and a stiff boilermaker. Think back to a time when bars weren't bars, they were saloons. This is the birthplace of the beautiful mahogany bar at Holdren's in Santa Barbara. Built before the turn of the century, and placed into its current home in 1918, it is the oldest standing bar in all of Santa Barbara.

 

While many things may have changed in the surrounding area, the bar has remained, practically unchanged. It has survived the great earthquake of 1925, prohibition, depression, and countless floods and Fiestas. Almost all of the wood and metal used to make the bar during its original construction is still intact today.

 

For our Newbury Park location, we have replicated the Holdren's bar, giving the feel of an old steakhouse in the city.
